Building a Windows 10 SLS Camera – Part 3 (Finishing Touches)

We added the 90 Degree USB adapter so the Oversized Kinect USB plug isn’t sticking out of the side so far.

Next we installed the Rotating Tripod Head under the tablet That gives us a nice swivel head so we can adjust the angle any time we want.

In the Center mount hole we left open we install the Small Rig Tripod Extension, and use one of the left over mounting screws we removed from Dual Tripod extension.

Finally we attach our Pistol Grip Tripod

And we are all done!

Honestly I’m not overly thrilled with the strength of the pistol grip tripod mount, so we will be looking at other mounts, but we are all assembled and ready to go.

All of the “Flexing” we are seeing are at the top hinge of pistol grip. We may need to forgo the pistol grip and use a heavy duty tripod instead.

With a 3 – 4 hour continuous operation with screen recording, this should work out very nicely.

I’m already looking at how to enhance/improve this build for version 2. Finding a better charging/supplemental power for the tablet, and a heavy duty tripod most likely in order. I would really like to see if I can extend the run closer to 5 hours for the really long investigations.

Since we used a lot of ready off the shelf parts, we have a lot of options when it comes to modifying this design.
