Pennhurst Asylum – Devon Building – Candy Land

The Candy Land room in the basement of Devon hall is filled with Child friendly murals (at least they once were child friendly) and was kind of play already for the children.

By the time we got to Devon building and Candy Land most of the other investigators in group called it a night and left.

The first thing you notice is you will get buzzed by Bats. They are not shy in this building and will happily go about flying right past you head while they feed. Quite frankly in the summer you need the bats otherwise the mosquitoes alone will eat you alive leaving you to also roam the halls here.

Experiences/Evidence:

Sitting there on a couple of chairs, investigator Erica B. felt her back get ice cold.

You regularly hear things banging and getting dragged around. Since we were still sharing the building with other investigators we can’t say for certain some of the sounds were not being made by them. investigator Tim B. kept getting up and looking for something he couldn’t quite put his finger on.

We setup BooBuddy and let him start asking his questions and we started using the Paralus app.

BooBuddy asked a simple question. “Do you know what time it is?” and the Paralus app responded with “Hammer.”

Now was this an intelligent response? Who knows, the timing is uncanny and could be coincidence. Was the response referencing some kind of brutality? Or was it referencing the 1990 MC Hammer hit? The facility shut down in 1987, about 3 years before the MC Hammer’s “U can’t touch this.” However as you can tell from the graffiti, old broken bottles of beer and other trash, it would seem that there would have been plenty of time for people to have held parties all over Pennhurst where that, admittedly catchy song, could have been played enough for the spirits to catch on and learn.

Another capture, letting BooBuddy do it’s thing, BooBuddy asked “What’s your favorite food” and you hear a response. Here’s the sound clip so you can decide for yourself what you hear.
